What is a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)?

PTAs provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). Physical Therapy is a dynamic profession full of variety, activity and human interaction.听PTs and PTAs are movement experts who treat a variety of patients to help relieve pain, increase strength and coordination, prevent disability, and restore the basic movements that we take for granted every day by improving balance, posture, strength, flexibility and more.

PTAs are an integral part of the healthcare team and work in a variety of settings including hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, home health,听nursing听homes, schools, and sports facilities.
